New Zealand | Pilsener | 4.8%
Bach Brewing is one of those gypsy brewers we’ve talked about before and for this summer delight of a brew, they took up residence at the Steam Brewing Company. The result is a seriously hopped up Pilsener. We’re talking all NZ hops, all the way – Pacific Jade, Pacifica, Riwaka, Motueka, and Nelson Sauvin. As Bach put it themselves, this is hops for grownups and may leave “green bottle” lager drinkers crying in the corner! But we know that’s not you, which is why we’ve included it in this month’s batch. It’s a damn good Pilsener – summer fruits on the nose, a solid malt backbone, crisp, dry finish and perfectly sessionable. For all its assertive hop character, there’s plenty of balance there – the bitterness is intense but not overwhelming. It’s sharply refreshing and you’ll be reaching for another before those lightweights crying in the corner can dry their tears.
